The Café-Boutique Doubles as a Resource Centre
The Café serves healthy, protein-rich meals for as little as $3 for members and $5 for non-members.
Food insecurity is a reality for many living in Point Saint-Charles where we run our local community programs. Over the past few years, more and more people have been turning to Share the Warmth’s food bank for support. In a just a few years, we have seen food bank numbers rise from 600 to 1,400 people per month.
Given this alarming trend, we consulted members and looked for a way to help residents have better access to healthy, affordable food. Our solution was to create a community café, which also doubles as a resource centre.
The Café is open daily from Monday to Saturday and serves healthy, well-balanced meals in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Lunch is served between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and features nutritious vegetarian meals for as little as $3 for members and $5 for non-members. The Café also serves breakfast until 11:00 a.m. and brunch on Saturdays between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
